Indications

Procedure
  • Through remote or hidden incisions, the facial bones are mobilized, repositioned and rigidly fixed, to restore normal anatomy
Recovery
  • Patients recover in hospital for 2 - 4 days
  • Incisions are healed within 2 weeks
  • Return to school or work after 6 weeks, but no strenuous activity or contact sports for 12 weeks
  • Subtle swelling and numbness in the face may persist for 6 months
Result
  • Provides a permanent correction
Risks
  • Infection, hematoma, wound healing problems
  • Eyelid deformity
  • Double vision or other visual disturbance
  • Dental injury or malocclusion
  • Residual asymmetry or deformity
