Indications
  • Discreet localized deposits of fat that are resistant to
    dieting or exercise
  • Areas typically treated include the hips, buttocks, thighs,
    and flanks

Procedure
  • Through short, inconspicuous incisions, a small tube or cannula is inserted under the skin to remove the fat deposits and contour body shape
Recovery
  • Bruising, numbness and discomfort for 2 weeks
  • Patients wear a supportive garment for 4 weeks
  • Return to work after 1 week, but no strenuous activity for 3-4 weeks
  • Swelling at the surgery site may persist for 6 months
Result
  • The resulting contour is permanent, provided there is no subsequent weight gain or loss
Risks
  • Asymmetry, contour irregularity
  • Infection, bleeding, fluid collection
  • Blood clots
  • Excessive fluid loss leading to shock
