Indications
  • Abnormalities in the size, shape or position of the facial bones around the eyes. These can result from congenital conditions, trauma or tumors

Procedure
  • Through remote or hidden incisions, the orbital bones are cut, repositioned or reconstructed. to restore normal eye position
Recovery
  • Patients recover in hospital for 2 - 4 days
  • Incisions are healed within 2 weeks
  • Return to school or work after 2 weeks, but no strenuous activity or contact sports 8 weeks
  • Subtle swelling and numbness in the forehead or cheeks may persist for 6 months

Risks
  • Infection, hematoma, wound healing problems
  • Eyelid deformity
  • Double vision or other visual disturbance
  • Residual asymmetry or deformity
